When Ilkka and Susanna meet for the first time, their handshake is quite literally accompanied by an electric shock—love at first sight. The problem, however, is timing: both are married. While on a summer holiday in Pärnu, Ilkka and his wife Liisa become part of a group of friends who meet every summer at the same restaurant to spend a week together—as long as they are all still alive. Among these life-loving friends in their sixties and seventies, feelings begin to grow between Ilkka and Susanna, while Susanna dreams of divorce and Ilkka feels a duty to remain by his ill wife’s side. Over the years, they meet again and again, old feelings do not fade, and the fragility of life becomes painfully clear.
