Evelin Penttilä


Evelin Penttilä has received a BA in international relations and political theory from the University of Tartu and a MA from Tallinn University’s Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication school, majoring in TV production. She is alumni of  Media Business School Mega Plus post graduate course, Nipkow programme and also a graduate of EAVE Producers workshop 2016. Evelin is a board member of the Estonian Film Industry Cluster and a member of European Film Academy.

Evelin’s filmography is diverse including youth film and television series ZERO POINT (premiere in Shanghai IFF 2015, first Baltic feature film sold to Netflix), two local box office hits CLASS REUNION and CLASS REUNION 2, theatre adaptation of Hemingway’s THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA (directed by award winning Martti Helde), many short films and dozens of commercials. Evelin’s latest feature film, an Icelandic-Estonian-Norwegian co- production feature MIHKEL (directed by Ari Alexander Magnusson), premiered in October 2018 in Busan International Film Festival.

A Finnish-Estonian co-production HELENE (directed by Antti J. Jokinen), based on the life events of an acclaimed Finnish-Swedish painter Helene Schjerfbeck, is currently in production. Short horror film BAD HAIR (written and directed by Oskar Lehemaa) and a Finnish- Estonian co-production MARIA’S PARADISE (directed by Zaida Bergroth) are in post-production and will be released in 2019.

Stellar Film is a production company established by Evelin Penttilä and Ralf Siig based in Estonia in 2015. Stellar is providing production services as well as producing original content. We like dynamic original ideas with artistic and commercial core mixing genres and delivery platforms. We aim at bringing Estonian talent to the world, but also participating in intriguing international films.
